Re: Large tax hike looms, The News, June 18
I noticed in your article that one of the main problems is the rise in the cost of fuel for public transit.
I have also noticed that there are a lot of huge, empty buses driving around. Mississauga is dedicated to public transit, but that doesn’t mean that if you have large buses you are going to fill them. Has anyone ever thought of smaller mini-buses on down times and poorly-patronized routes?
Just put out the big double buses at rush hour on the busiest routes. The fuel consumption on a smaller bus has to be much less than on the larger ones.
Big and empty is not better.
The people at City Hall don't listen to me; maybe you can open their eyes.
