Re: Disabled musicians strike a chord at the Fox, mississauga.com, June 6
I was disappointed with the language used to describe the individuals in the band — “Disabled musicians strike a chord at The Fox” and “Five disabled teens...”
We like to think of these individuals as people first and not only for their disability.
By calling them disabled first, you are taking away from their gifts and talents as musicians. This article should be about highlighting their achievements as musicians, not about their disability.
What you could have said was, "Musicians Strike a Chord at the Fox" and then identified them as teens (first) with disabilities (second) in the text.
