Streetsville’s clown company, Clowns at Party California, is celebrating its 20th anniversary.
And what better way than to throw a free clown street party with the help of Clowns Canada.
The event is the brainchild of Ian "Round-a-bout" and Bev "Doodlebug" of Clowns at Party California who wanted to do something special to mark their company's 20 years in business as well as Streetsville's 150th birthday.
The pair invited Clowns Canada to hold their convention in the village. The aim of Clowns Canada is to bring those with an interest in children’s entertainment and clowning together. Today members of Clowns Canada include people from all walks of life. They are housewives, teachers, doctors, accountants, executives and more. Each has their own personal reason for clowning. For some it's a rewarding hobby and an opportunity to volunteer. For others it's a chance to make some extra money or a full time profession.
The conference provides clown learning experience for those at all levels and welcomes newcomers. They are comprised of clowns, face painters, jugglers, mimes, magicians, balloon artists, story tellers, puppeteers and more from novice to professional, young and old.
As part of the convention, about 40 clowns will be entertaining free throughout downtown Streetsville on Saturday from 2-4 p.m.
The event will be proceeded by a clown parade starting at the intersection of Queen St. S. and Ontario St. that will head south on Queen to the cenotaph at Main St. It starts around 1:30 p.m.
From there, the clowns will disperse to various locations along Queen St. S. from Thomas St. to the Centre Plaza to entertain the crowd. There will be face painting, balloon sculptures, magic, music and a variety of silly nonsense and is being billed as being fun for all ages.
For further information on sponsoring a clown or if you would like to donate a prize call 905-567-8912.
