Hosted by St. Stephen's-on-the-Hill United Church, the Harvest House Tour showcased the elegantly-designed and fully-decorated homes for public viewing.
Since its inception seven years ago, the tour has raised over $60,000 to support local charities, including The Compass Youth Centre and Foodpath Mississauga. This year, visitors paid $25 for tickets, with proceeds going towards Habitat for Humanity and St. Stephen's-on-the-Hill church programs.
A home on Indian Grove Rd. welcomed a steady stream of guests who entered grand gates and walked along a lengthy driveway through lush trees before arriving at the doors.
Among them were Leslie Griesinger and Mary Detlor.
"I like the openness and the finishes in the home," said Detlor, who lives in Lorne Park. "It's a very ostentatious home, but it's also very soft and very inviting."
The home, accented with arched doors, pieces of artwork and long, rich-coloured drapes, also featured a home gym and sauna in the basement.
Griesinger, who lives in the Mineola area, said she could see herself living in the home.
"You see so much when you're coming in. You're like, 'Oh I like this, oh I like that,'" said Griesinger. "This may be motivating me to take action to renovate and actually do something with my home."
Sybil Percy shares the sentiments.
"I'm getting more ideas for your everyday decorating to seasonal decorating and building ideas," said the Oakville resident who walked through the Indian Grove home with her three girlfriends.
The four said they really loved the landscaping in the backyard, which was outfitted with a patio bar, barbecue, swing set, pool and waterfall.
