August 26, 2008 09:24 AM - Mississauga-based MTI Global Inc. has been selected by Brazilian jet maker Embraer to provide $20 million worth of silicone thermal and acoustic materials for its new line of aircraft.
"MTI-PolyFab continues to strengthen and diversify its market position in the growing business jet market," president and CEO Bill Neill said in a press release Monday. "We have established a strong long-term working relationship with Embraer over the past eight years and look to continued collaboration for many years to come."
MTI Global Inc., which has its head offices at 7381 Pacific Circle and also has a manufacturing facility in Mississauga, designs, develops and manufactures custom-engineered products using silicone and other cellular materials. Its aerospace division makes a number of products, such as seats, for the world's leading airlines.
"We have selected industry leaders to supply the Legacy 450 and Legacy 500 programs," said Mauricio Almeida, vice-president of the Legacy jet programs for Embraer. "By engaging best-in-class suppliers like MTI Global, Embraer will be able to produce jets that deliver premium comfort, outstanding performance and low operating costs."
Both aircraft are scheduled to enter into service by late 2013.
