Chris Baluschak scored a pair of touchdowns, including one on each side of the ball, to lead the Greatest Show On Turf to the D Division championship in Mississauga Touch Football League (MTFL) playoff competition.
Baluschak was named the game's most valuable player after scoring a touchdown on an interception return then running one in on offence as the Greatest Show defeated New World Order 20-6.
In the B Division final played earlier at Mississauga Valleys, the Axemen defeated the Razorbacks 32-16. Axemen quarterback Corradino Doret was named the championship game's MVP after he tossed five touchdowns to lead his club to the title.
The Axemen had finished the regular season third in the standings with a 6-4 mark, just one point ahead of the Razorbacks. The Axemen won an earlier contest between the two clubs, 26-21, in Week Four.
For the Greatest Show On Turf, the D Division title capped a Cinderella season as they turned their fortunes around in one year. Last season they finished 1-9 and this year they cruised along at 8-1-1 to finish first.
New World Order struggled for most of the year but caught on fire down the stretch. Both teams were making their first championship appearance in the MTFL.
MTFL championship games continue tonight at the Valleys with the C Division final that matches Meadowvale's Finest against The Trailer Park Boyz. The A Division championship contest will be played next Tuesday at the Valleys.
