It's not getting any easier for six-time Greater Toronto Bowler of the Year, Joe Ciach.
The Mississaugan and his partners, Mark Buffa of Montreal and George Lambert IV of Hamilton, finished 17th in their trio squad Monday morning at the men's world tenpin bowling championships in Thailand.
Ciach, a seven-time member of Team Canada, bowled a total of 1,294 in six frames while Buffa and Lambert finished with 1,114 and 1,275, respectively, for a combined total of 3,683 at the 42-lane SF Strike Bowl, located 30 minutes away from Bangkok.
The trio failed to qualify for the semi-finals by 104 points.
On Saturday, Ciach and his partner, David Simard of Granby, Quebec, finished 10th with a combined score of 2,683 points in doubles.
However, after 12 games, Ciach, who has earned medals at the 1997 and 2006 American Zone Championships and the 1999 Tournament of the Americas, sits in eighth place, 70 points behind the leader, Alejandro Cruz of Mexico.
The top 16 players qualify for the masters elimination finals.
Tomorrow, Ciach and his teammates will hit the lanes in the team of five category.
The Canadian team, which is taking on the best bowlers from 56 countries, is filled out by the 2006 national champion, Jason Kovack of Windsor, Corey Clayton of Calgary and Lucien Casagrande of Winnipeg.
The competition, which wraps up Aug. 31, involves more than 300 players.
