The Majors continued their quest Friday morning for back-to-back titles at the 52nd annual Lions-CNE Peewee Baseball Tournament.
Mississauga dumped North Toronto All-Stars 11-6 at CNE Ball Park in Toronto, advancing to today's quarter-final against Markham.
"Our team played well," said Majors head coach Lawrence Collymore. "We came out hot."
The Majors controlled the game from start to finish, with a solid pitching performance from Roberto Mason, who struck out eight over five innings of work.
"We were up 11-1, but got a little sloppy allowing five more runs," said Collymore. "But we were able to close it out."
Vince Cordi, who came on in relief, worked two innings, striking out three.
Collymore said the team will have a light practice on Saturday to work out kinks on defence.
"They just gotta focus on what they've done well all year," said Collymore. "They have to hit the ball hard and play with confidence and no fear."
The Majors are looking to become only the third team to win back-to-back Lions-CNE titles and the first since the 1982-83 Stratford J & S News.
