Police have identified the teen shot to death behind St. Jude Separate School.
The victim, Evan Popoola, 15, had no vital signs when police found him on the sports field behind the elementary school on Nahani Way just before 6:30 p.m. Paramedics took the victim to Trillium Health Centre, where he was pronounced dead by trauma physicians.
An autopsy has been scheduled for later today.
Police say the suspect is male, of unknown racial origin, with a thin build and wearing shorts. He was last seen running in a southerly direction, and is believed to still be armed.
Police are still trying to determine what led to the fatal confrontation, during which multiple shots were fired.
