Dave Levesque of nearby Georgetown grabbed the clubhouse lead Saturday early in the third round of the $125,000 Jane Rogers Championship of Mississauga at the Lakeview Golf Club.
Levesque, who got into the tournament as a Monday qualifier, was the first player out on the course this morning and was able to take advantage of the benign weather conditions to card a four-under-par 66.
That gave him a three-round total of 208, two under par for the championship.
Levesque, who was one of only four players able to match par or better in the Monday qualifying, had four birdies, an eagle and two bogeys in today’s round over the 6,404-yard Lakeview course.
He finished his third round long before the overnight leaders had teed off.
George Bradford of Columbia, Maryland, was the leader after two rounds at nine-under-par 131. Ryan Yip of Calgary and Alex Coe of LaQuinta, Calif., were one shot behind Bradford.
The tournament, named in honour of Mississaugan Jane Rogers, who died of cancer last year, winds up Sunday.
