A scoring drought is doing in Toronto Croatia.
The Mississauga-based club managed only one goal last week against Windsor Border Stars in Canadian Soccer League action (CSL).
Its opponent, however, was even more offensively-challenged and Croatia escaped with a 1-0 win.
There was no such luck last night at the Hershey Centre. Facing the front-running Italia Shooters, the home side — despite a valiant effort — couldn’t find the back of the net and dropped a 2-0 decision.
With the loss, Croatia remains in third place in the CSL’s International Division at 7-5-4 for 25 points.
Italia improved to 11-3-1 for 34 points.
“The game was very even, but we had no luck,” said Croatia spokesperson Pino Jazbec. “We had bad breaks, including hitting the crossbar on a few occasions. We just have to learn to take advantage of our chances.”
Croatia will have the following week off, before hosting winless London City at home Sept. 12.
