Liberal MP Dan McTeague says it will be a slight increase of about 1.6 cents a litre. The long-time gas watchdog blames speculation in the markets for this latest price hike.
The pain, however, could be short-lived: some industry observers are predicting the price at the pumps may fall below $1.20 by the first weekend in September, because it signals the end of the summer driving season.
