Peel Regional Police say the culprit walked into the bank, at the corner of Creditview Rd. and Shagbark Cres., just before 10 a.m. and demanded cash from the teller. The woman complied and the robber placed a quantity of cash in a white plastic bag before fleeing the scene on foot.
No one was injured during the heist, and no weapon was used, according to police.
The force's Canine Unit and Tactical Rescue squad is on scene, searching areas such as the nearby Erindale GO station and Riverwood Park to try to track down the suspect.
He is described as male, white, 6-foot-1, with a blue and white bandanna covering his face. He was wearing a baggy black track suit and hoodie.
He was last seen running westbound toward the GO train lot.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the force's Central Robbery Bureau at 905-453-2121, ext. 3410.
