Exhibition explores history of women's rights

They’re not just objects — and they’re driving home the point through art.
Peel Heritage Complex is presenting a student-curated exhibition, Not Just Objects: Student Selections Celebrating Women, until Aug. 31 in the Whitney Community Gallery.
Over the summer, young female students at PHC explored the history of women’s rights in Canada, focusing on the famous Persons Case of 1929. The case symbolized the right of women to participate in all facets of life and to be seen as equal to their male counterparts.
“The Persons Case of 1929 is important because it marks the moment when Canadians could no longer exclude women from universities, professions or politics,” said student Lisa Glynn. “It is amazing to see how far we have come and learn about what women before us had to go through.”
PHC, located at 9 Wellington St. E. in Brampton, is offering free admission during August.
