There were no serious injuries but the collision resulted in significant damage to the vehicles.
Cattaraugus County sheriff’s officials said a southbound 2008 Yukon driven by Amratlal Tailor, 58, of Mississauga, apparently crossed the centre line at about 11 a.m. It struck a truck an oncoming Jeep Liberty driven by a 46-year-old woman from Lewiston, N.Y.
The Jeep careened into another vehicle travelling south behind Tailor’s SUV. A fourth vehicle hit a guard rail and then bounced back onto the road and struck the Jeep.
Tailor’s passengers, including four children aged nine to 15 and two adults, complained of minor pains but none were sent to hospital. Two other people were treated at an area hospital for minor injuries.
The vehicles were heavily damaged, according to police. Tailor was cited for failure to keep to the right.
