The festival runs tomorrow to Friday at Burnhamthorpe Library Theatre. Three shows, Land Slides, Arthur Makes a Difference and Wings, will be performed.
"The three pieces span a wide range of styles (with) some being very realistic in their presentation while others are much more abstract," Mississauga's Matthew Yipchuck, who directs Wings, said in an e-mail. "It's going to be a great night of theatre; I find that (festival director) Denise (Oucharek) made an excellent decision in the plays she chose in that they all have quite a bit of substance, but are entertaining enough to appeal to any age range."
Tickets cost $14 and $16, and are available by calling 905-949-6499. One ticket provides access to all three shows. Show time each night is 7:30 p.m.
Land Slides is directed by Oucharek. It's billed as an examination of a life suspended after a personal trauma and one individual's quest to effect change.
It stars Dianne Oliveira, David Planche, Cydney Clark, Sarah Harwood and Avery Parsons.
The Daniela Turasi-directed Arthur Makes a Difference follows the journey of one very important boy throughout his high school life as he chooses the right path and encourages others to do the same. It features James Hawdon as the eponymous protagonist, Arthur.
The cast also includes Ariel Quesnelle (narrator) as well as Ahmed AlGaity, Daniela Sicilia, Sade Cole and Daina Lewars (voices).
Wings is billed as an exploration of societal gender role connotations with birthday party streamers and birds.
It stars Laura Bower (female) and Tony Nashed (male). The cast is rounded out by Quesnelle, Hawdon, AlGaity, Sicilia, Cole and Lewars, who all perform in the chorus.
