The price of a new detached home in Mississauga rose 14 per cent in 2007, according to the City's planning department, an increase that outstripped the average GTA rise of 8.9 per cent.
Sales of new homes in the northern half of the municipality were more than twice those in the southern, more established neighbourhoods. There were 2,479 transactions in the north and 1,039 in the south, according to the planning report.
The most expensive homes are in the southern area, where the average sale price was $669,000. The average sale value in central Mississauga was $458,000, with northern Mississauga at $441,000.
Resales of detached homes hit 12,000 in 2007, a rise of 11 per cent from 2006.
