The celebration of 15 years of service in Canada for the Nissan motor company means 51 new vehicles for charities across the country.
The Mississauga-based car-maker has decided to mark its anniversary by providing new wheels to non-profit groups that often have difficulty fundraising the price of a new vehicle.
Organizations such as Meals on Wheels, the Canadian Red Cross and Health and Home Care B.C. will be among the beneficiaries.
Ontario groups will receive 25 of the donated vehicles.
"The (Nissan Canada) Foundation has a long-standing history of support for seniors in our communities," said Mark Grimm, president, Nissan Canada Inc. "We are pleased to help make a difference for our partners at a local level with
this donation. Each day, these vehicles help the organizations we partner with
reach out to at-risk seniors who can often feel isolated in their communities."
The Nissan Canada Foundation was established in 1993. Its objective is to help Canadians in need, with a focus on seniors.
