Several Mississaugans will be heading to Winnipeg in November to collect academic awards presented by the Canadian Institute of Traffic and Transportation (CITT), the professional development organization for Canada's fast-growing supply chain and logistics industry.
Marina Gavrylyuk, who's now employed by Willson International of Mississauga, has been named winner of the James T. Mackenzie Memorial Award. It's presented by the CITT itself to the student with the highest overall academic standing in the graduating class.
The institute offers courses to both undergraduates and to employees already in the business who want to improve their skills.
Paul Murray of Quik X Logistics in Mississauga will be honoured for achieving the highest combined mark in the transportation systems and logistics processes course. He'll receive the Charles Laferle Memorial Award, presented by the Canadian Industrial Transportation Association.
Natasha Yip-Hoi, of Kuehne & Nagel International in Mississauga, is the winner of the Robert A. Hains Award, presented by Canadian Transportation Education Foundation. Yip-Hoi had the highest mark in the logistics decision modelling course.
Sharon Sampath of Canada Post Corporation in Mississauga won the Unique Personnel Award for achieving the highest academic standing in the organizational behaviour business knowledge course. That award is presented by the Private Motor Truck Council of Canada.
The CITT's annual convention, where the awards will be officially presented, takes place Nov. 7 in the Manitoba capital.
