A Mississauga company has been awarded the contract to supply home oxygen to the mainland B.C. regional health authorities for the next five years.
VitalAire, a subsidiary of Air Liquide, announced today that it had won the bid to deliver home respiratory services.
"Over the next six months, our priority for our clinical team will be the seamless transition and continuity of care for the 5,400 patients," said John Hunter, vice-president of home care marketing, sales and business development.
"Patients will receive training on VitalAire's home oxygen medical devices before the previous home care providers' equipment is removed from their homes."
Home oxygen therapy is often required for severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. COPD is Canada's fourth-leading cause of death and affects about three million Canadians.
VitalAire has its head offices at 6990 Creditview Rd. in Meadowvale. It also has local home care branches on Matheson Blvd. E. and Central Pkwy. W.
