July 3, 2008 08:40 AM - A 19-year-old Mississauga man is in custody after a teen was sent to hospital with a collapsed lung following a stabbing last night in an Erin Mills park.
Around 10:15 p.m., heavily-armed Peel Regional Police tactical officers along with the force's Canine Unit responded to Arbour Green Park, in the area of Folkway Dr. and Treetop Cres., after receiving a 9-1-1 call from a man who had been stabbed.
The victim, who police confirmed had been stabbed twice with a knife, was taken to Credit Valley Hospital. The 19-year-old Mississauga man is expected to recover.
Police said the victim and an 18-year-old friend were hanging out in the park when they were approached by another man. For unknown reasons, police said, the men began arguing and the victim was subsequently stabbed.
The second victim suffered superficial cuts behind his ear that didn't require medical attention.
Police arrested two men, charging one and releasing the other.
Charged with aggravated assault is Michael Daniels of Mississauga. He's expected to make an appearance at a Brampton courthouse today (Thursday, July 3) for a bail hearing.
Police continue to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to contact the 11 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau at 905-453-2121, ext. 1133.
