Around 10:15 p.m., heavily-armed Peel Regional Police tactical officers along with the force's Canine Unit responded to Arbour Green Park, in the area of Folkway Dr. and Treetop Cres., after getting a 9-1-1 call from a man claiming to have been stabbed.
Police say the victim was stabbed twice in the chest and transported to Credit Valley Hospital by Peel Paramedics in serious condition. His injuries aren't considered life-threatening.
Early indications are that it was an attempted robbery, police said.
Meanwhile, less than two hours later, the investigation led police to several suspects.
Sgt. Shawn Scott described the crime scene as being “pretty big” but said it’s too soon to speculate as to what happened or whether the incident was gang-related.
Police were looking for as many as five suspects, all described as white men. The main culprit was five-foot-10, with a medium build and blonde hair. He was wearing no shirt and dark shorts. He also had a large tattoo on his back, police said.
There was a white vehicle at the scene that investigators believe is linked to the culprits.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the 11 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau at 905-453-2121, ext. 1133.
