Mississauga teams won three championships and were finalists on two other occasions at the 42nd annual Robbie International Soccer Tournament in Scarborough, which concluded Monday.
In an all-Mississauga final, Mississauga Falcons defeated Erin Mills Soaring Eagles 4-2 in the boys’ under-12 division.
David Luis led the Falcons with two goals, while Calvin Gomes and Matthew Mustard also contributed offensively. Adam Tyskiewicz scored both goals for the Eagles.
Erin Mills Golden Eagles came away champions in the boys’ under-15 age group, defeating Ajax Gunners 3-1 on goals by Ryan Garnett, Joseph Giorno and Stefan Vukovic.
North Mississauga Panthers were the city’s other champion, capturing the
under-16 girls’ division with a 2-1 decision over North London Flash. Karley-Anne Pontes scored both goals for the victors.
Also, the Mississauga Croatia under-10 boys’ squad lost 5-1 to Brampton East Bulldogs.
Niky Markovic had Croatia’s lone goal, while Richard Ennin was the star of the game for Brampton, with three goals.
