July 2, 2008 09:38 AM - With the help of three Mississaugans in their lineup, the Canadian Thunderbirds under-16 baseball team is headed to Nashville this week to compete in the Sandlott World Series.
Under-15 champions last year, the Hamilton-based Thunderbirds leave for the United States on a winning note after capturing the Can-Am Classic in dramatic fashion Sunday afternoon in Hamilton.
One strike away from defeat in the championship game, the Thunderbirds pulled off a 3-2 victory over the Long Island Tigers West.
The Thunderbirds strung together two hits, two walks and a hit batsman to turn a 2-1 deficit into the win.
Making the trip to Nashville are Mississaugans Mitchell Habib, Jordan Petruska and Dana Tenenbaum.
