June 30, 2008 09:13 AM - Mississauga singer Debi Sander Walker will have a new award to show off when she performs this Friday (July 4) at the Living Arts Centre (LAC).
Sander Walker will be joined by the Royal Regiment of Canada's swing band, The Royals, for the concert in Hammerson Hall. She received the regiment's Commanding Officer’s Commendation Award last month at the Fort York Armoury. The award was presented in recognition of Sander Walker's support and dedication as an associate member of the regiment's band.
At the concert, Sander Walker will open the evening with her tribute to country music legend Patsy Cline. The Mississauga vocalist has portrayed the singer in A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline and reprises the role on a regular basis for corporate clients.
She has studied Cline's life extensively and strives to portray the person behind the music. Chances are, Sander Walker will perform renditions of popular Cline tunes such as Crazy, I Fall To Pieces, Sweet Dreams and She’s Got You.
The second half of the concert features Sander Walker singing big band selections and pieces with pipers from the 48th Highlanders of Canada.
Show time is 8 p.m.
Tickets cost $25, $40 and $100. To purchase, call 905-306-6000.
